In the summer, it is convenient to take a direct bus from Toyama Station to Murodo.
The journey takes 2.5 hours without transfers. The fare is 3,400 yen one way and 6,000 yen round trip.
Toyama Chiho Railway Bus (Toyama-Murodo Line) → Toyama Chiho Railway

If you are traveling to Toyama by car or rental car, you can use the Chiho Railway Building parking lot directly connected to Toyama Station for free by reserving a direct bus.
There are also routes that connect with local railways, the Tateyama Cable Car, and the Kogen Bus.
From Dentetsu Toyama Station, adjacent to the JR lines, take the local train bound for Tateyama to Tateyama Station.
From Tateyama Station, take the Tateyama Cablecar to Bijodaira Station. From Bijodaira, take the Kogen Bus to Murodo.
Considering the transfers and the crowds on the Tateyama Cablecar, we don’t recommend this option.
However, if you’re going to Tateyama Station by car or rental car, take the Tateyama Cablecar route.
Start climbing from Murodo
Murodo Station is the highest station in Japan. It has a variety of facilities, including a bus terminal, Tateyama Hotel, restaurants, and an observation terrace.
